Quantum Marmalade

An Animation Adaptation

In 2023, I was contacted by graphic novel creator Danny Walker to produce an animated promotional video for his series Quantum Marmalade by adapting a segment of one of the graphic novel's chapters.

We created an action-packed animated adaptation by working off one another's ideas while staying faithful to the vibrant art and action sequences presented in the graphic novel.

The Process

An Example of the Pipeline process I used while working on the project. This allowed me to efficiently communicate with Danny at different stages of production.

Graphic Novel Creator

"Noseh and I worked together to create an animation based on my indie graphic novel, Quantum Marmalade.

Working with Noseh has been excellent! We discussed several options for the animation and he was great at understanding and interpreting my vision for the project. His communication skills are excellent as well -- at each stage of the process we discussed ideas, edits, and improvements to the art and flow and Noseh had a great attention to detail, incorporating my feedback and also bringing ideas of his own. The process felt very creative and natural, with Noseh creating a professional product with a unique art style. I was never confused about the direction of the project, or Noseh’s ideas and descriptions -- I appreciated this clarity.

Noseh was also clear with me about timing and budgeting. This helped me plan ahead and have flexibility for the project. I never felt like there were hidden fees or undisclosed details. In fact, when Noseh proposed edits to the project budget, he reached out to me with a clear explanation and proposal.

It’s been a rewarding experience working with Noseh, and I would definitely work with him again! I hope we have a chance to do so in the future."

Early Explorations

Some explorations in the early stages of the project. Originally there was going to be a lot more scenes and shots but we decided to scale things down so we could prioritise on more action heavy shots and not stretch ourselves too thin.
